I would like to share a feature suggestion that I believe could improve the ChatGPT experience, especially for users who maintain long-term conversations and ongoing projects over weeks or months.
During my regular use of ChatGPT, I occasionally found it difficult to locate specific information, links, decisions, or ideas that had been discussed earlier in lengthy conversations. As chats grow over time, finding a particular piece of information can become challenging, even when the user remembers the topic itself.
To address this, I would like to suggest the addition of automatic daily date markers within conversations. The idea is simple: whenever a new calendar day begins, a clear date header would automatically appear before the first interaction of that day. All subsequent messages would remain grouped under that date until the next day begins.
For example:
Thursday, June 4, 2026
Friday, June 5, 2026
What led me to this idea is that I tested a similar approach manually in my own ChatGPT conversations by using daily date headers as reference points. I found that it significantly improved my ability to revisit previous discussions, locate important information, and navigate long conversation histories more efficiently.
I believe this small addition could provide several benefits:
• Better organization of long conversations
• Faster retrieval of previously discussed information
• Clear chronological reference points for ideas, projects, and decisions
• An improved overall user experience with minimal interface changes
I am sharing this suggestion because it proved genuinely useful in my own experience, and I believe many other users could benefit from it as well.
