I was wondering if it’s possible to refine the way text is edited. Specifically, could there be an option to select a portion of the generated text—like a paragraph—and have ChatGPT rewrite just that section instead of reworking the entire chapter? Often, chapters are mostly fine but need minor tweaks. Unfortunately, when requesting edits, the AI rewrites the whole chapter, changing not only the part that needed adjustment but also the good portions I wanted to keep. This results in multiple versions of the same chapter, creating unnecessary clutter and requiring extra time to sort through what to keep or discard.
Additionally, it would be incredibly helpful to delete individual conversations within a chat. Sometimes I ask clarifying questions during a story discussion that aren’t directly part of the story itself. Having the ability to remove those would not only improve organization but also help with word-limit issues in longer chats.
On that note, I recently worked on a large sci-fi story and ran out of space to continue. When starting a new chat, the AI couldn’t retain the context of the previous story, including character details and plot elements. This made it difficult to maintain continuity.
