Feature Suggestion: Distilling Personal Information from Conversations to Help Users Build Their Own Personal AI Agents
I am a frequent and intensive user of ChatGPT conversations. Through a large volume of ongoing interactions, I have noticed that while ChatGPT provides me with information and assistance, it also naturally records an increasing amount of information about me.
Voice input greatly amplifies this opportunity.
For example, while I am out walking, I can simply open ChatGPT and say:
“I walked 8,000 steps today.”
“My blood glucose was 95 this morning.”
“My sleep seems to have changed recently.”
In situations like this, the most natural way for me to use ChatGPT is simply to open it, start a New Conversation, and speak—rather than first navigating to Health, Wellness, a Project, or a previous conversation.
This natural, convenient, and high-frequency way of interacting allows ChatGPT to encounter a remarkably rich and potentially comprehensive range of personal information across conversations—health, medical information, exercise, finances, insurance, travel, as well as many other aspects of my life, experiences, and needs.
But this rich and comprehensive personal information is scattered across different conversations.
As a user, I would like to be able to use a simple natural-language instruction to extract this scattered but valuable information and accumulate it into my own Personal Record.
For example, I could simply say:
“Extract the important health information from our conversation today and add it to my Health record.”
ChatGPT could then extract and organize the relevant information, show it to me for confirmation, and save it.
This would allow me to continue using ChatGPT in the most natural way—asking questions, talking, and starting new conversations whenever I want, without having to decide in advance where each piece of information belongs. At the same time, the personal information worth keeping from those everyday interactions could gradually be distilled through my own instructions.
As information related to Health, Wellness, Finance, Insurance, Travel, and other areas is continuously distilled and organized, personal information that was originally scattered across conversations could gradually come together into my own long-term Personal Record.
I believe that something as simple as this natural-language instruction could turn fragmented personal information across conversations into accumulated, structured context—and gradually become the foundation for building my own Personal AI Agent.
Personal AI Agents have already become an important direction on the design side, but on the user side, most ChatGPT users are still primarily using ChatGPT for search, consultation, and knowledge synthesis.
With this personal-information distillation feature, I could continuously extract and organize important information about myself from everyday conversations and gradually build my own Personal Record. As that information accumulates, I would become more intentional about using ChatGPT to manage my personal information, while ChatGPT could use that growing context to better understand my background, needs, and habits.
This creates a two-way process: I use ChatGPT, and ChatGPT gradually gets to know me; I continuously build my Personal Record, and ChatGPT can use that context to serve me better.
Ultimately, through this ongoing interaction, the user and ChatGPT could grow a Personal AI Agent together—one that is truly personal to that individual.
