Feature Request: Sub-Conversations in ChatGPT
Context:
Currently, conversations in ChatGPT are linear, which works well for focused discussions. However, when users explore a broad topic with multiple branches, the interface can become overwhelming and less practical for future reference.
Proposal:
Introduce support for sub-conversations, organized as “tabs” or “collapsible sections” within a main conversation. This feature would allow users to:
- Better Organize Content: Break down the topic into sub-conversations by themes without losing the overall context.
- Enable Quick Navigation: Simplify finding specific information in complex conversations.
- Maintain Clarity: Prevent the main conversation from becoming too lengthy or cluttered, enhancing the user experience.
Potential Implementations:
- Internal Tabs: Each sub-conversation appears as a separate tab or section.
- Collapsible Sections: Allow users to expand or minimize sub-conversations under a larger topic.
- Cross-Referencing Links: Sub-conversations can reference each other for better navigation.
- Organized Exports: Enable exporting each sub-conversation separately or as part of a unified document.
Impact:
This functionality would benefit users who use ChatGPT for studying, planning complex projects, or documenting ideas, making the system more versatile and scalable for practical applications.
