Feature Request: Slide-to-Text (Slide-to-Reply Style) in ChatGPT

Hi OpenAI Team :waving_hand:,

I’d love to suggest a feature that would make ChatGPT much more user-friendly, especially in long conversations:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Slide-to-Text (Slide-to-Reply) Feature for Messages

Just like WhatsApp or other chat apps, it would be helpful to slide any previous message to create a focused reply.

Why this matters:

  • In long chats, it’s hard to reference a specific earlier message.
  • Copy-pasting breaks the flow and feels clunky.
  • A “slide to reply” would give better context to both the user and ChatGPT.

Suggestion:

  • Add a swipe gesture or icon beside each message.
  • When tapped or swiped, it pulls that message into a quote bubble or reply thread.
  • ChatGPT uses it as the context anchor.
