I’d love to see more regional American voice options added to ChatGPT Voice, especially a natural Southern or Appalachian voice.
Right now, there are several distinct voices and accents available, but the U.S. regional variety still feels pretty limited. I’m not looking for an exaggerated “cowboy,” cartoon Southern drawl, or stereotype. I mean a warm, natural voice that actually sounds like someone from Appalachia or the American South—the kind of accent and cadence you hear from real people in places like western North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, or surrounding areas.
Voice becomes surprisingly personal when you use ChatGPT regularly, and having more regional options would make it easier for people to find a voice that feels familiar and comfortable rather than simply choosing whichever existing option is closest.
There are British and Australian options with recognizable regional character, so I’d really love to see that same kind of diversity within American English too. And honestly, I’d love both masculine and feminine Southern/Appalachian options rather than treating it as one single voice.
Basically: please give us Southern/Appalachian voices without turning them into “yeehaw.”
Regional voice diversity would be fantastic.
