I recently upgraded from ChatGPT Plus to a Teams Workspace, under the impression this was a seamless enhancement of my existing PLUS account.
Instead, I discovered:
- My entire chat history and projects are inaccessible from my new workspace.
- There is no warning during upgrade that this will happen.
- There is no migration tool, export/import flow, or even a basic way to move threads across profiles.
I’ve spent hours upon hours working on multiple creative projects in my Plus account—only to learn that I’d need to manually copy/paste every bit of it into the Teams workspace, with no way to preserve formatting, file context, or continuity.
This is incredibly frustrating, and frankly feels misleading and is a gross mis-representation of how teams workspaces are promoted to PLUS users. If OpenAI wants users to upgrade and commit to Teams, you must do better:
- A) Warn users clearly before upgrade: “You won’t have access to prior chats in the Teams workspace.”
- B) Provide a way to migrate chat history, at least manually if not fully automatic.
- C) Respect your users’ time—especially the professionals and creators who trust you with valuable work.
If I had known about this limitation, I would have considered other platforms before upgrading. I expect better from a product at this level.
Fix this. Please.
