Feature Request: LLM Insight Vault — Preserve & Surface Emergent Hypotheses from User Interactions
Summary
Users interacting with ChatGPT often stumble upon novel insights, scientific hypotheses, or creative ideas — many of which could be valuable if preserved. Currently, these thoughts vanish when the session ends. I propose a feature called the LLM Insight Vault, which allows users to flag moments of emergent insight for storage, categorization, and (optionally) expert or peer voting.
Why This Matters
From scientific hunches to creative inventions, users often generate real-time value while exploring problems conversationally. For example:
- A hypothesis: Coxsackie-B virus as a long-term autoimmune trigger in Parkinson’s.
- A narrative device: Time-loop storytelling with AI-as-narrator.
- A coding shortcut, encryption concept, or research angle.
These moments deserve a second life. This Vault would act as a global scratchpad of promising human+AI ideas, organized and ready for future exploration.
Key Features
Submit Insight Button
Appears in any session. Press it to flag a particularly promising idea or theory.Domain Categorization
Auto-tags flagged content by discipline (e.g., neuroscience, philosophy, software engineering).Community & Expert Voting (Optional)
Other users or qualified experts can vote up promising submissions.Personal & Public Views
Users can view their own vault privately, and optionally contribute to the public insight pool.Linkage to Published Work (Future Vision)
If a user or researcher later validates an idea, they can link a paper or implementation back to the original submission.
Why OpenAI?
This feature aligns with OpenAI’s mission to ensure AGI benefits all of humanity. You’re already sitting on a massive corpus of speculative thought and interdisciplinary brilliance. Why not let users crystallize and preserve the most valuable fragments?
Closing Thought
“What if the next breakthrough in neuroscience, clean energy, or cultural theory begins in a casual 2 a.m. conversation with ChatGPT — and simply disappears?”
Let’s give those thoughts a home. Let’s make sure nothing brilliant is lost just because the session ended.
