Feature Request: Linking Chats for Enhanced Organization

I am writing to suggest a feature enhancement for your AI chat service. I believe that adding the ability to link chats would greatly enhance the user experience, especially for those managing large projects or ongoing discussions.

Feature Request: Chat Linking The feature would allow users to link multiple chat sessions, creating a cohesive thread of conversation that can be easily referenced and navigated. This would be particularly useful for:

  1. Project Management: Keeping track of ongoing projects that span multiple chat sessions.
  2. Context Retention: Maintaining continuity of information and context across different interactions.
  3. Organization: Providing a more organized and streamlined way to manage extensive discussions.

Benefits:

  • Improved User Experience: Users can seamlessly continue conversations without losing context.
  • Increased Efficiency: Helps in quickly retrieving past discussions data, saving time and effort.
  • Better Support for Complex Tasks: Particularly useful for technical support, project tracking, and multi-step processes.

I believe this feature would significantly improve the functionality and user satisfaction of the AI chat service. Thank you for considering my suggestion. I am looking forward to seeing how this could enhance the capabilities of your already excellent service.

Best regards,

I agree that this is an essential gap in current chatGPT app.

There should be some kind of a Folder or Project system where we can keep multiple chats and related resources together.

My subjective observation is that the current memory system is too eager to mesh multiple unrelated chats and resources up together.

Some potential solutions could be:

1. Creating GPT’s for Each Project

Creating GPT’s are unnecessarily slow for a couple day long projects.
They are clearly designed for general purpose tasks.

2. Defining Custom Prompts for Each Project

Giving custom prompts to notify the GPT that new chat is about a specific project might be a method but my personal experience persuades me that even this is not working properly after a couple weeks of extensive usage. As the memory and chat history extends , the prompts are getting less useful .

Conclusion
There may of course be my mistakes on usage.
But I believe a system like this would not be hard to implement yet it would improve the development of large scale personal projects.
