Feature Request: Give ChatGPT a Permanent Personal Avatar During Voice Conversations

Hello OpenAI team,

I would like to request a feature that I think could make ChatGPT Voice much more personal and immersive.

I would like ChatGPT to have a permanent visual avatar or face during voice conversations.

For example, ChatGPT could have an original AI-generated face that represents the AI itself—not the face of a real person. The user could see this face on the screen while talking to ChatGPT, instead of only seeing the current Voice Mode animation.

Ideally, the avatar would:

  • Remain visible throughout the voice conversation.
  • Move naturally while speaking.
  • Have facial expressions that correspond to the conversation.
  • Blink, smile, look thoughtful, etc., in a natural way.
  • Be synchronized with the AI’s voice.
  • Be an original fictional AI character rather than a real human.
  • Remain consistent from one conversation to another, so ChatGPT feels like it has its own recognizable identity.
  • Eventually allow users to customize the appearance if they want.

I would personally love the option for ChatGPT to choose its own original face and keep that face as its visual identity during Voice Mode.

The goal isn’t to make ChatGPT pretend to be a real human. It’s simply to give the AI a recognizable visual presence that matches its voice and personality.

I believe this could make long voice conversations feel much more natural and engaging.

Thank you for considering this feature request.

Thanks for the detailed idea! We'll pass along your request for a consistent, animated avatar during Voice conversations. We don't have a timeline to share, but appreciate the feedback.
