I would like to suggest updating the notification behavior for o3-Pro and perhaps research as well. Using similar behavior as when the research feature asks you follow up questions, perhaps o3-Pro could ask, “Would you like to be notified when I am done?”, allowing the user to choose to be notified.
In addition, I would suggest updating the notification settings in settings to have 3 settings:
- Always notify me
- Ask if I want to be notified
- Never notify me
I like using pro when I am doing serious work, I feel it cuts down on the hallucinations and tends to return more accurate information with only one ask. The issue that I have ran into is that while I usually prefer notifications… when I am in heavy user mode, I would like to option to not be notified without having to update my settings each time.
It seems this could feel more user friendly as well and in line with using ChatGPT to “do” as much as possible on the user’s behalf.
I would be very interested to know if others feel this would also be an improvement over the current experience and in line with OpenAI’s vision of ChatGPT.
