Posted on behalf of a fellow Plus user with extensive experience managing long-form creative projects via memory.
Summary:
The current memory deletion interface is functional but not efficient, especially for users managing large sets of entries. A few small enhancements could significantly improve usability.
Requested Features
Multi-Select Functionality
Allow users to select and delete multiple memory entries at once (e.g., with checkboxes or Shift+Click).
Deleting one at a time is painfully slow when curating context-heavy conversations.
Smarter Warning System
Instead of repeating the deletion warning every single time, show it:
- once per session, or
- once per day, or
- include a βDonβt show again todayβ checkbox.
(Optional) Filter & Search Support
A search field or tag-based filtering system could help locate specific memories faster.
This would be especially useful for:
- long-running creative projects,
- recurring topic categories,
- or cleaning up outdated data more precisely.
Why It Matters
This is not a complaint, but a constructive suggestion from a power user who relies heavily on memory for creative writing and context management.
They value the feature and want it to scale better with their workflow.
Without these small quality-of-life upgrades, memory cleanup becomes unnecessarily tedious β and that can discourage active use of a powerful system.
Final Note
The memory system is one of the most exciting additions to ChatGPT β and these enhancements would make it even better for users who genuinely use it as a second brain.
Thanks for reading β hope this gets some love!
