As ChatGPT takes on more roles in users’ lives, it needs to adapt to different contexts. For instance, I prefer concise responses for coding help but appreciate a more conversational tone when brainstorming. Persona guidance can help, but when stored in memory, it applies universally rather than adapting to specific needs.
Custom GPTs can better handle persona-specific behavior, but without memory access, they lose the personal touch that enhances the experience. A balanced solution would allow users to enable memory access for private Custom GPTs only, with a restriction on API calls to prevent any unintended exposure of sensitive information.
This approach would improve customization and responsiveness while maintaining security, offering a valuable interim solution for managing memory across different roles and contexts.
