I would like to request a change to the default model fallback behavior for ChatGPT Pro $200 subscribers.
Currently, after the GPT-6 Pro usage limit is reached, new conversations automatically default to GPT-6 Thinking, even though the subscriber may still have available usage for GPT-5.6 Pro.
This default behavior is not ideal. A Pro subscriber who still has access to another Pro model should not be required to manually select GPT-5.6 Pro every time a new conversation is created.
The default fallback order for Pro $200 accounts should be:
GPT-6 Pro → GPT-5.6 Pro → GPT-6 Thinking
More specifically:
- After the GPT-6 Pro limit is reached, new conversations should automatically use GPT-5.6 Pro.
- GPT-5.6 Pro should remain the default until the GPT-6 Pro allowance resets.
- Users should not have to select GPT-5.6 Pro manually in every new conversation.
- GPT-6 Thinking should become the default only after the available GPT-5.6 Pro allowance has also been exhausted.
- Ideally, users should also be able to configure their preferred fallback model in Settings.
The current behavior creates unnecessary friction for Pro $200 subscribers. Since GPT-5.6 Pro is still included and available, it should be prioritized over GPT-6 Thinking as the automatic fallback model.
Please consider updating the fallback behavior or adding a user-configurable Default Fallback Model setting.
I would also be interested to know whether other Pro $200 users have encountered the same issue and would prefer this fallback order.
