Feature Request – Convert Temporary Chats into Regular Chats

I would like to suggest a feature that would improve the Temporary Chat experience.

Currently, Temporary Chats are useful for conversations that users do not initially want to save. However, sometimes a temporary conversation becomes valuable, informative, or personally meaningful, and users may wish to keep it after the discussion has already begun.

I suggest adding a feature that allows users to convert a Temporary Chat into a regular saved chat at any point during the conversation.

For example, a user could start a chat in Temporary Mode and later choose a “Save Chat”, “Move to regular chat” or “Move to History” option if they decide the conversation is worth keeping. This would provide the privacy and flexibility of Temporary Chats while preventing users from losing useful conversations unexpectedly.

Potential benefits include:

- Preserving valuable discussions, research, and troubleshooting sessions.

- Allowing users to decide later whether a conversation should be saved.

- Reducing the need to manually copy and paste chat content.

- Improving the overall user experience without changing the purpose of Temporary Chats.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I appreciate the work that goes into improving ChatGPT and hope this feature may be useful for other users as well.

Kind regards,

Thanks for sharing this suggestion.

I can see how the ability to convert a Temporary Chat into a regular saved chat could be useful, particularly when a conversation turns out to be more valuable than expected.

I appreciate you taking the time to outline the use case and potential benefits. I'll pass this feedback along to the team for consideration.
