I’d love to see ChatGPT add a Watchlist / Follow experience for topics that users want to keep tracking over time.
The idea could build on capabilities ChatGPT already has, such as conversation context, memory, scheduled tasks, web research, and notifications.
Example:
I’m having a conversation with ChatGPT about Physical AI and robotics. ChatGPT suggests:
“Follow Physical AI updates”
If I press Follow, that topic is added to a dedicated Watchlist.
Later, instead of going back through a long conversation, I could open:
Watchlist → Physical AI
and immediately see:
“What changed since your last check?”
The important part is that the Watchlist item should preserve the context of why I followed the topic, not just save the keywords “Physical AI.”
So ChatGPT would know I was specifically interested in things like robotics control, AI agents operating robots, new platforms, market developments, etc.
This could be useful for many kinds of ongoing interests:
-
Stocks and companies
-
AI technologies
-
Games and upcoming releases
-
Sports teams
-
Competitors
-
Industries and markets
-
Regulations
-
Products
-
Research topics
Users could choose something like:
Follow
-
Major updates only
-
Daily
-
Weekly
Then the Watchlist could show:
NVIDIA — 3 meaningful updates
Physical AI — 2 new developments
Company X — No major changes
Clicking an item could open a dedicated update thread where the user can ask follow-up questions without having to find the original conversation.
The flow would be:
Conversation → Follow → Watchlist → What changed? → Follow-up conversation
I think this could turn Scheduled Tasks and proactive research into something much easier for normal users to understand: instead of thinking “I scheduled a task,” users can simply think “I follow this topic.”
It could make ChatGPT significantly more useful as a long-term personal intelligence tool rather than only a place to start individual conversations.
