Feature Request: ChatGPT Memory Review & Merge Saved Memories Automatically

Managing long-term memory in ChatGPT becomes increasingly difficult as entries accumulate. Without built-in tools to review or consolidate content, users must manually delete or edit entries—risking the loss of important context.

Requested Improvements:

  • Allow ChatGPT to RELIABLY identify and suggest redundant or mergeable entries (with user confirmation).
  • Introduce tagging or categorization to organize memories by theme or purpose.
  • Provide version history and undo options for all memory edits.
  • Improve visibility by listing all saved entries clearly, including recently modified ones.
  • Prioritize memory retention by relevance, frequency, and user-assigned value—not just recency.
  • Enable AI-guided memory review sessions, where users are walked through potential cleanup options based on usage patterns.
  • Add a memory impact indicator to show which entries are most referenced or influential in chats.
  • Offer memory export/backup functionality to download memory in a structured format before making edits.

These changes would make memory more sustainable, reduce cognitive overhead, and build greater trust in long-term use of the tool.
