Feature Request: Add an Approximate Usage Bar for ChatGPT Work
I would really like to see a simple usage indicator added to ChatGPT Work.
It does not need to be an exact calculation of remaining tokens or usage. An approximate visual indicator would be enough — for example, a progress bar showing roughly how much Work capacity has been used and how much is likely to remain before the next reset.
Something as simple as:
Work usage: ██████░░░░ Approx. 60% used
Reset: 9:40 pm
would make a big difference.
I use Work for substantial professional tasks that can run for quite a long time. My main concern is not necessarily the total allowance; it is knowing roughly where I am within that allowance during the working day.
If I could see that I had perhaps 30–40% remaining at lunchtime, I could make an informed decision about whether to start another large Work task or move smaller jobs back into standard ChatGPT.
At present there is a risk of starting a substantial piece of work and then reaching the usage limit partway through the day without much advance indication.
The indicator does not need to predict the exact amount of time remaining because obviously different tasks use different amounts of compute. Even a simple green / amber / red bar, or an approximate percentage combined with the next reset time, would be extremely useful.
The recent addition of the Work button makes Work much easier to access. A visible approximate usage indicator alongside it would make it much easier to manage as part of a normal professional working day.
