Feature Request: Add a “Star Chat” Feature Separate from “Pin Chat”
I would like to suggest adding a “Star Chat” feature that is separate from the existing “Pin Chat” feature.
Currently, the Pin Chat option allows users to keep certain chats at the top of the sidebar. However, pinning is best suited for short-term priority conversations that the user is actively working on.
A Star Chat feature would serve a different purpose: it would allow users to mark important chats for long-term reference without affecting the normal order of chats in the sidebar.
Suggested Behavior

Pin Chat (existing feature):

Pinned chats always remain at the top of the sidebar.

Used for chats that are currently active or frequently accessed.

Star Chat (new feature):

A star icon (
) could appear next to each chat. -
Starred chats would appear in a separate “Starred” tab or section in the sidebar.

This would allow users to easily revisit important chats without scrolling through many conversations.

Why This Feature Would Be Useful
Many users use ChatGPT for learning, coding, studying, and long-term projects. Over time, the number of chats grows very large, and important conversations become difficult to locate again.
A Star Chat system would help users:

Quickly find important reference chats.

Separate long-term knowledge/reference chats from temporary active chats.

Organize their workspace more efficiently.
This concept is already used successfully in many platforms such as Gmail (Starred emails), Slack (Saved items), and GitHub (Starred repositories), so users are already familiar with this type of workflow.
Summary
Adding a Star Chat feature alongside Pin Chat would significantly improve chat organization and make it easier for users to manage and revisit important conversations.
