Right now, when you hit Ctrl+F (or Command+F) inside ChatGPT, the search only applies to the left sidebar (chat history titles), not the actual conversation feed on the right side.
This creates real friction when you’re trying to find specific points in long conversations — especially for users like me who use ChatGPT for detailed workflows, brainstorming, or documentation.
Feature Request:
Please add a dedicated search function for the active conversation feed only — independent of the sidebar.
Ideally:
- A simple Ctrl+F should default to searching the feed, not the chat titles.
- Or at least offer a toggle: “Search Conversations” vs. “Search History.”
This would dramatically improve user experience, especially for longer, information-rich chats.
Why it matters:
- Saves time for professional users working through large sessions.
- Reduces frustration when trying to reference or revisit specific advice or answers.
- Aligns ChatGPT more closely with how users expect browser-based apps to behave.
Would love to see this added. Thanks for considering it!
