Feature Request: Ability to Change Name, Phone Number, and Email

Hey!

This is a very common and important request: please add the ability to change name, phone number, and email on the account.

There are serious security concerns — for example, if my phone number changes and someone else gets it, they could potentially access my account. I also currently use a number from one country, but I’m considering moving, which would force a change.

These situations are super common, and not being able to update basic personal info is… frustrating. Also, it wasn’t clearly communicated during sign-up that this data would be locked forever.

I’ve seen many threads like this already — but since there’s been no actual progress, I’m adding another voice to the pile.

YES! I don’t understand why they don’t give you the ability to change your phone number. I am dealing with this now. People move, phone plans change, numbers change sometimes. It is so weird that you cannot change the phone number associated with your account for EXACTLY the reason you point out. Most carriers only put a number in quarantine for a couple of months at most before it is recycled.

We REALLY REALLY REALLY need the ability to change the phone number associated with our account. I have never seen a service or website that doesn’t give you this option.

I agree. I’m going to keep flooding these forums and every place I can find until OpenAI fixes this problem. It is maddening that they cannot simply fix it so people can change the email address or phone number on their account when it becomes necessary. It’s not acceptable to have to lose all of our chat data or recreate it or begin again. It’s terrible and frustrating and it makes me angry at OpenAI. How stupid are they? This is a big issue–#1, in my opinion.

I’m chiming in just to echo my support for this feature in hopes that OpenAI will do something about this. It is absurd that this is absent in ChatGPT–literally every other service I can think of allows this.

At the moment, I am stuck having to pay for an email client I no longer need because there are multiple important projects on my current account, and I can’t switch out of them because of this really not smart decision to omit such a basic function.

I was floored when I learned that I couldn’t do this, and I am still baffled.
