Feature Proposal: Persistent Reference Canvas Across Chats

I suggest enhancing the Canvas feature with a permanent document management system.
Currently, Canvas documents are tied to a single chat, which causes information loss and redundant work in large-scale or long-term projects (e.g., system or software development).

Desired improvements:

  1. Global Canvas registry listing all documents (name, type, modification date).

  2. Ability to mark a reference document (e.g., Zr.md) as the default working document.

  3. Cross-chat persistence, allowing Canvas documents to be reused and automatically reattached when starting a new chat.

  4. Addendum mode for temporary supplements (N-<date>.md) that can later be merged into the main reference document.

  5. Simple versioning support for better traceability of changes.

This would greatly improve the reliability and efficiency of long-term documentation and development workflows.
