Feature Proposal: An “Idea Brainstorming Room” to Turn User Ideas into Innovation

I would like to propose a new ChatGPT feature: an “Idea Brainstorming Room.”

The goal is not simply to give users another feedback button. It is to create a dedicated space where people can develop ideas through conversation with AI and, if they choose, submit those ideas for structured evaluation.

Many people have useful ideas but do not know how to turn them into a formal proposal. They may not have technical, business, legal, or writing expertise. However, they can explain what they imagine if they have a conversational partner.

The proposed workflow would be:

  1. Idea Brainstorming Room
A dedicated option in the ChatGPT sidebar.

  2. Conversational development
The user simply talks with ChatGPT about an idea, just as in a normal conversation. The AI helps organize, clarify, connect, and develop the idea without forcing the user into a long form.

The user remains the source of the original idea. The AI acts as a thinking partner.

  1. User confirmation
When the user feels that the idea has taken shape, they can choose to submit it.

  2. AI Council
The submitted idea could be reviewed by multiple AI models or specialized AI roles, each looking at the idea from a different perspective—for example:

  • technical feasibility
  • business potential
  • user value
  • risks and ethics
  • implementation complexity
  • originality or similarity to existing ideas

The original conversation should remain available as the source of context and provenance, rather than relying only on an AI-generated summary.

  1. Follow-up questions
If the AI Council needs more information, the user could receive a notification and return to the same conversation. The AI would ask only the questions that are necessary.

  2. Idea status
The system could provide a simple status such as:

  • needs more information
  • under evaluation
  • similar/duplicate
  • not currently feasible
  • passed for further review
  1. Provenance
The system could record when an idea was submitted and preserve the original conversation that produced it. This could become useful if multiple people independently propose similar ideas.

  2. Human review
AI could handle the initial analysis and screening, while appropriate cases could be passed to human reviewers.

  3. Future development
For ideas that an organization decides to develop, a later stage could potentially handle formal agreements, ownership, licensing, compensation, or project development.

The important point is that this would not be an attempt to replace human creativity with AI.

It would be a way for AI to help people make their own creativity visible.

A person may have a good idea but lack the skills to write a business proposal, build a prototype, or explain the concept in another language. Conversational AI can help bridge that gap.

In simple terms:

Human thinks → Human talks with AI → AI helps shape the idea → Human confirms → AI evaluates → Human answers follow-up questions → The idea can potentially become a project.

I think ChatGPT is uniquely positioned for this because the conversation itself can contain the history of how an idea developed.

This could turn ChatGPT from a place where people only ask questions into a place where people can also develop and discover ideas.

I would be very interested to see this explored as a future ChatGPT feature.
