I’ve been using ChatGPT for creative writing, and I think there’s a gap that many writers here might relate to.
Right now, all types of content seem to be handled under the same strict layer. That makes sense for safety—but it can also make certain kinds of writing feel restricted even when nothing explicit is involved.
For example, writing that relies on:
- metaphor and implication
- stronger dialogue tones
- emotionally grounded but non-graphic scenes
- stylistic intensity in character voice
These aren’t unsafe—but they can still get flattened or blocked.
So here’s the idea:
A separate creative writing mode with clear boundaries
- Default mode stays exactly as it is
- Optional mode for verified users
- Allows more flexibility in tone and expression
- Still strictly blocks explicit or disallowed content
- Focus is on how something is written, not what is allowed
This isn’t about removing safeguards.
It’s about separating contexts so creative work doesn’t get treated the same as general-purpose text.
I think a lot of writers—not just me—are trying to explore more nuanced styles without crossing any lines, and right now that space feels unclear.
Curious if others here have felt the same friction?
Would this kind of feature help your workflow too?
