Feature Idea: ChatGPT Connect — “People You Might Connect With”
What if ChatGPT had an optional social side where it could connect you with people who share your interests?
Not another Facebook-style “People You May Know.”
Instead, ChatGPT could use age + interests to suggest people you might genuinely enjoy learning or talking with.
For example:

If both users choose Connect, they can have a private one-to-one chat.
Profiles could include:
- Name
- Age
- Nationality
- Ethnic group/tribe (optional)
- Religion (optional)
- 6–10 interests
Users would control what is visible, and private ChatGPT conversations would remain private.
The best part?
ChatGPT itself would still remain the main experience.
You could have:
ChatGPT → Connect → Chats → Profile
So instead of only helping you find answers, ChatGPT could potentially help you find people who are interested in the same things you are.
Imagine a student interested in AI and medicine in Nigeria connecting with another student interested in medical AI somewhere else in the world.
Facebook asks:
“Who do you know?”
ChatGPT Connect could ask:
“Who might you learn and grow with?”
Obviously, strong age-based safety, privacy, consent, moderation, and protections for younger users would be essential.
I think this could make ChatGPT a really interesting combination of AI assistant + learning platform + human connection.

I was wondering if there could ever be a way for it to connect people with similar interests, but only with both people’s consent and without exposing any private chats. ChatGPT ended up finding your post and I thought it was kinda crazy that you’d already suggested basically the same thing. Really cool idea
