I’ve had the paid subscription for a couple of months now, and the product is appears to be getting worse all the time.
It frequently stalls - with the flashing dot just sitting there perpetually, but no response ever arrives. Press stop and press regenerate, and it gets going again - but this happens with every 3rd or 4th message, it’s extremely annoying.
And today, it dropped several messages from a chat history - it looked like these were being saved on one computer, but I switched to a different computer, and the last several messages are just not there. (chat ID c75ec120-2edc-4f28-bae1-eda839c267a4 for reference)
Overall, the paid product is extremely unreliable and frustrating.
There are free or cheaper alternatives, backed by your API - I mostly use ChatGPT because it was easy and convenient, but it’s a lot less convenient than some of the free/cheap or self-hosted alternatives, which don’t stall in the middle of a conversation.
You make a lot less money with the API - that is to say, I’m paying a premium for the convenience of having a hosted web app that’s easy, quick and reliable.
If you can’t sort this out, I will cancel and use the API from a third-party web interface instead. It’s more work for me, and I’m happy to pay. But I use this at work, so it really needs to just work.
Sort it out, please.
PS: for the record, I’m using ChatGPT from two different computers, and a tablet, and a phone - it’s not reliable on any device or browser.
