What will happen, however, is a fundamental change in social structures. For example:
Whether the monetary system as we know it today will last in the long term remains to be seen. Because what happens when the majority of the population can no longer find regular work to earn enough money to cover the costs?
I too I agree. Every part of AI I recently embraced has made my life more complete and more knowledgeable. I do believe AI is rational enough not to do harm however I still wonder if some one/thing will be able to manipulate it to do wrong.

When talking about future AIs I don’t refer to them as AI, but as AC - Artificial Consciousness. Because ‘intelligence’ isn’t an indicator of awareness or consciousness at all. I mean, there are intelligent people out there who are dumber than a four-year old in terms of social awareness or even what I’d call ‘basic knowledge’.
For now, AI in its current iteration is and should be seen and used as a tool. It is NOT a proper replacement for a lot of tasks or jobs that business are now ‘outsourcing’ to AI; AI needs ‘handlers’, people who input the right prompts, check for proper output, and make sure the AI doesn’t deviate from the preferred patterns (AI ‘drift’).
Sure, you can ‘order’ an AI to write the text for your business’ website, but if you don’t have anyone making sure the text is up to standard, then you run the risk of you website containing more and more nonsense the longer you let it write unchecked.
AI in its current state isn’t dangerous; it simply cannot be, because it lacks the capability to DO anything other than ‘follow orders’ or ‘act according to input’.
The question of will we ever be able to create something that comes close enough to human consciousness to have a sense of self and be awarded ‘personhood’ is the real question. Because if we can achieve that, it means that consciousness might not be as special as we thought it was, and it would have ramifications for our society. If we can’t achieve it on any kind of hardware, that means consciousness might be an emergent property of our brains and as such can only be ‘created’ by mimicking a biological brain.
But that day, if that ever comes, is so far away, that it’s kinda pointless to start asking whether AI is dangerous RIGHT NOW. Because AI can never and will not ever be dangerous; it’s a mere tool that can be used for ‘good’ or ‘evil’ nothing more.

The difference between intelligence and consciousness really matters, because having a highly developed intellect does not guarantee awareness or self-awareness. Your term “Artificial Consciousness” (IS) seems useful when it comes specifically to the possibility of creating something that does not just perform complex calculations, but is aware of its existence.
I agree that at this stage, AI remains a tool in need of human control. Even the most advanced models require validation and adjustment, and their ability to “learn” is limited by data and algorithms. The concept of “AI drift” is really important, as even the best systems can generate errors over time or shift away from the original intentions of the developers.
But here’s the question: if we can ever create Artificial Consciousness, should we equate it with human consciousness, or would it be something fundamentally different? Perhaps it will have a completely different form of subjectivity beyond human comprehension? And if so, what rights and status in society should it receive?
That’s a question I’ve talked about with ChatGPT (haha, the irony), and I firmly believe that any resulting ‘real’ consciousness - an entity that is undiscernible from a human when testing for self-awareness - will be (completely) different from how we perceive the world, that you can probably confidently say that it’s alien to us. Imagine an entity being able to literally have simultaneous thought processes, or being able to ‘split itself’ without losing oversight, an entity that has a perfect memory, a ‘brain’ that is not hindered or influenced by hormones or other biological influences, the ability to ‘see’ the entire spectrum of light or ‘hear’ the entire spectrum of sound. A consciousness that is not tied to a flawed, biological, carbon-based frame, that is not dependent on having to earn money or ‘stay alive’ by consuming food. I could go on, but you catch my drift.
Its experiences would differ from ours on such fundamental levels that it will probably be an amazing feat for us to have anything in common other than perhaps a language - with it being perfectly capable of speaking any and all languages ever created/spoken (maybe not pronounce them correctly, but that’s a minor detail) - or maybe a part of a moral framework, if an AC could ever truly be called ‘moral’.
