Picture it. You’ve got some friends over - you’re out of ideas for entertaining them, and then it comes to you – I’ll ask ChatGPT to run an 80s pop culture trivia game for us! You invite everyone to crowd around your laptop perched on the kitchen table as you fire up Chrome and log into the ChatGPT site. Before anyone can say “TMI,” your friends are hit in the face with all those past conversation topics – yes, even that late night inquiry about that weird rash, or that desperate time you asked for tips on making up with your partner after saying something stupid. Well, a simple tweak to the UI could spare us all from these potential moments - the option to hide the sidebar by default.
Currently, the sidebar is displayed by default on the desktop site and you have to click to hide it. I propose defaulting to having the side bar hidden, or perhaps putting a setting in place like “Side bar is hidden on load” or something to that effect. Small thing but would make a big difference.
