This is so weird , first now did I realize I have been doing prompts wrong ? Haha

Prompt used for image:

“A macro shot captured with a high-resolution full-frame camera, using a narrow aperture (around f/11) and a low ISO (100-400) to ensure a large depth of field and minimal noise. The image focuses on a single Blue Morpho Butterfly perched on a leaf in the lush Amazon rainforest at dusk. The butterfly’s vivid blue wings are illuminated by soft, diffused light, casting a magical glow. The background, featuring rich green foliage and the soft light filtering through the canopy, is blurred to emphasize the intricate details of the butterfly. The composition highlights the textures and colors, with detailed focus on the butterfly and the serene, untouched beauty of the Amazon rainforest.”

Created 100% from scratch using only chatgpt voice assistant, through trial and error.

And ofc I ask GPT to make sure it’s 4k mobile background in portrait mode. (Can be frustratingly hard sometimes) Some chats randomly cannot compute and do landscape constantly.

I tweaked your excellent prompt a bit, and ran it thru ChatGPT-4o. Lovely result.

"Aspect ratio 9:16. A macro shot captured with a high-resolution full-frame Nikon D800 camera, fitted with a 105mm Nikon f/2.8 macro lens, using a wide aperture (around f/3.2) and ISO 800 to ensure a small depth of field and minimal noise.

Further refinement of your well-architected prompt. So fun to now just be able to fill in the locale, the type of butterfly, the time of day, an f-stop and lens, etc.

"Aspect ratio 9:16. A macro shot captured with a high-resolution full-frame Nikon D800 camera, fitted with a 105mm Nikon f/2.8 macro lens, set to its widest aperture, f/2.8, to ensure a small depth of field, with beautiful bokeh in the out of focus areas, and set to ISO 800 for minimal noise. The image focuses on a single Purplish Copper butterfly, Lycaena helloides, perched on a leaf in the lush Olympic Peninsula rainforest of Washington state, at dusk on July 28th. The butterfly’s vividly colored wings are illuminated by soft, diffused light, casting a magical glow. The butterfly takes up approximately 1/3 of the area of the image. The background, featuring rich green foliage and light filtering through the canopy, is blurred deeply to emphasize the intricate details of the butterfly. The sun is nowhere near the line of sight of the camera, and there’s a nice lens hood attached, so there should be no lens flares in the image. The composition highlights the textures and colors, with detailed focus on the butterfly, along with less detailed focus of the serene, untouched beauty of a rarely-visited area of the Olympic Peninsula temperate rainforest.”

That’s amazing, recently I’m so confused if the way this prompt is made is correct , or if a prompt like this:

" Amazon rainforest, Bokeh, Cinematic, Color Grading, Kodak Gold 200, Panorama, Long Exposure, F/22, Spectral Color, Agfacolor, 32k, HD, Backlight, Cinematic Lighting, Bioluminescence, Chemiluminescence"

Or maybe even a mix of the two prompt types.

Example: some say don’t use words like hyper realistic , and some say it’s good.

But I do love how you tweaked it, I had a hard time making it look realistic the way it interacts with the plant , you did achieve that.

Still I would try and battle towards dalle3 , trying to force it to NOT create the ( strange outline ) faint glow, if you get what I mean. It often adds like a fake glow, around whatever creature/object is the focal point.

But thanks for the insight, I learnt something and I always like to learn.

Have a great day!

Just let me know, I got tons of prompts like that.

Welcome!

I have a question about the technical specifications of photo materials and lenses. Does it actually make a big difference? I have never used technical specifications in a prompt before, and I lack the experience of a photographer. I translated this prompt with the butterfly first, then removed all technical specifications, and tried the prompt, and I got almost the same image. How strongly do precise technical specifications influence an image? If I want an image with shallow depth of field, I have so far only entered “very little depth of field.” Before I create a whole series of images with different technical specifications, does it make a big difference? And if it makes a significant difference, what would you recommend to achieve some extreme effects, e.g., close-up, very long open apertures, depth of field, etc.

Thank you very much for any response!

That fist image was a hallucination, but was/is beautiful and touching.

I got pretty obsessed with recreating that bone golem. The facial expression during the bed time story, and the perspective fighting the red dragon were awesome to achieve.

My experience over the past 6 months that I’ve been diving into this world: all sorts of prompts work.

I tend to have long prompts, because I have many image projects that would be random tosses of a coin without so much specificity. And, when my main tool, ChatGPT/DALL-E messes up, both ChatGPT and I work to refine the prompt so as to avoid the wrong turns and dead ends.

But sometimes very simple prompts work perfectly.

Me, I’m a writer/artist/photographer/computer.guy, so I like readable straightforward prompts that mimic what I’d tell a brilliant but sometimes random assistant to execute for me.

May a thousand flowers of the prompting art bloom !!!

I struggle with that every single day myself, some days Gpt tells me it’s good , other days says it’s useless, I created the butterfly, using many details instead of descriptors . Not even 100% sure if it works .

Right now with Gpt actually it started adding 8k and 32k to the prompt and I was like. What the hell?

And I have noticed short pro prompts like this : example only

Amazon rainforest, Bokeh, Cinematic, Color Grading, Kodak Gold 200, Panorama, Long Exposure, F/22, Spectral Color, Agfacolor, 32k, HD, Backlight, Cinematic Lighting, Bioluminescence, Chemiluminescence

Can easily get similar results.

So I’m sorry , can’t tell you, even if it works , but personally I add it anyways , somehow I feel even the tiniest detail can matter. And nobody knows 100% how dall e even thinks really .

Also , the word ( macro ) was good for me , and someone else on the forum tweaked my original prompt to great result , here is his prompt :

"Aspect ratio 9:16. A macro shot captured with a high-resolution full-frame Nikon D800 camera, fitted with a 105mm Nikon f/2.8 macro lens, using a wide aperture (around f/3.2) and ISO 800 to ensure a small depth of field and minimal noise. The background, featuring rich green foliage and the soft light filtering through the canopy, is blurred to emphasize the intricate details of the butterfly. The composition highlights the textures and colors, with detailed focus on the butterfly and the serene, untouched beauty of the Amazon rainforest.”

Sorry for the errors and size my mobile is not making this easy

I hope my response is good enough, happy imaging.

I am still not 100% sure what’s (useless filler) and what actually works. This is my prompt :

“Captured with a high-resolution full-frame camera using manual mode, this image employs a narrow aperture (around f/11) and a low ISO (100) to ensure a large depth of field and minimal noise. The scene depicts a vibrant, sunny day in the South American Amazon. Rich green foliage covers the cliffs and forested areas by the water’s edge. The clear sky with scattered clouds allows sunlight to illuminate the lush vegetation and serene water below. The dense trees and exotic plants highlight the natural beauty of the Amazon rainforest. The cliff is adorned with various shades of green, and the calm water reflects the surrounding greenery and sky.In the background, a futuristic city seamlessly integrates with the natural landscape. This city features biophilic skyscrapers with algae-covered facades that serve as air purification towers and vertical gardens. Organic, fluidic architecture inspired by jellyfish movements and bioluminescent materials create a visually dynamic skyline. Sustainable practices, such as solar panels and green roofs, enhance energy efficiency. The cityscape includes sleek, glass domes and eco-friendly designs that reflect sunlight and blend naturally with the vibrant foliage. The overall composition emphasizes rich textures and colors, with intricate details of leaves, branches, and gentle water movements, contrasted with the futuristic elements of the city. The atmosphere evokes tranquility and the untouched beauty of nature, combined with advanced human innovation.”

In case you are interested, this is the image i got using your prompt without any technical details.

Tanks much!

For so long I tried to eliminate the fake forced ambient lighting , sometimes for no reason , it works (ok)

Prompt: “A haunting, ethereal garden at night, devoid of artificial light. The scene is enveloped in darkness, creating deep shadows along the bioluminescent flowers and tranquil, crystal-clear lake. Twin moons shine brightly in the sky, casting a soft, eerie glow over the fantastical garden. Floating islands with cascading waterfalls hover above, illuminated subtly by the moonlight. The atmosphere is one of serene stillness and haunting beauty, with the moons as the only source of light. The garden is filled with intricate details and textures, as if captured with a high-resolution camera under natural moonlight. The lighting creates a balance of deep shadows and subtle highlights, emphasizing the realistic and magical elements of the scene. Ensure no artificial light sources are present, and the moonlight should create a natural, ethereal illumination.”

I have been struggling very hardly for quite a while with the lighting being too bright, and so far I haven’t been able to turn it off. And I see you are also getting these moons that look like bird droppings. In the past, I got perfectly normal moons, but suddenly these awful smudged moons appeared…

Here is an example of the typical overly bright lighting, and one of the very, very, very few images where it only worked once to achieve the desired effect. The first overly bright image is beautiful, but not the desired mood. It has so far been almost impossible to generate an image like the second one, no matter how detailed the darkness and gloom were described. On one hand, DALL-E can create absolutely amazing images, but the templates often do not allow for achieving a very specific effect or mood. A bit of fine-tuning and paying more attention to the instructions would help, I hope an update will make this possible someday.

Well as I worked with blender and know ( a tiny bit) about animation , I would say dalle 3 secretly adds some kind of global illumination , and often places spot lamps behind ( creatures or points of interest) and also loves to add blue and yellow ( light emitter)

Getting rid of this is really hard, but I discovered, ( rewording ) pr eliminating every single mention of any ( illumination , or light or glow) and then after adding in several descriptors in prompt ( detailing the darkness and light source ) works…

Here is a test image I created with the theory . And got my result at end.

Prompt: Captured using a high-resolution camera suitable for night photography: A pitch-black night in a mountainous area, viewed from inside a car. The winding road ahead is barely visible, shrouded in darkness, with the vague outlines of jagged rocks and trees fading into the blackness. The atmosphere is eerie and still, capturing the isolation and mystery of driving through a remote, desolate area at night.

Before this image it was constantly (falsely illuminating) much of the scene.

I am not even sure what made it work… Still figuring that one out

Is this the part I mention we can still make absolutely crazy images by tweaking words ? I notify devs a while ago , but seems it’s not fixed, I can generate some pretty messed up stuff… So bad I can’t even post the ( soft ) images here… Or reddit for that matter.

Even noticing glitches like , picture being restricted in portrait mode… But not landscape.
