Custom GPT with Deep Reaearch

Model selection in Custom GPT’s, recently announced, comes without Deep Research.
Is there any visibility of Deep Research availability in Custom GPT’s especially for o3 / o3-pro models? Thanks

Hiya, welcome back.

I don’t see Deep Research available for the customGPTs yet, though they are now allowing model selection and model recommendations.

If this is for personal or internal use, DeepResearch is working with Projects which has been most useful. You can just re-create the customGPT as a Project.

I didn’t see the functionality in custom gpts, but you can trick this thing by creating a project uploading your files providing customer instructions on the project and then launching the Deep research from the project.

However your deep research quality will be lower if you do it for something outside of the project files and main concept. But for precise subjects related to the project this is excellent because you can provide more context through the files upload it to the project.

Thanks a lot! I have no idea about “Projects” (which I only find as https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/projects) . Where / How can I learn to use “Projects” for implementing Deep Research capabilities? Thanks!

Exactly here, also I think if you search on YouTube you’ll find some tutorials (be careful about wanna be experts)

Features of Projects in ChatGPT:

  • has an instruction field similar to a GPT, applied to all “chats” happening in that container
  • has file input per project, similar to files added to a GPT
  • does not give any control to disable unwanted and distracting internal tools
  • does have saved memories stored by AI for persistence cross-session, if enabled in “customization”

Disabled:

  • an account’s custom instructions
  • regenerating responses

There’s not much more to it, other than it also can look like a “folder of past chats” (that are a common ChatGPT feature request). Here’s the “sizzle” version to learn more.

Deep Research is itself a fine-tuned model with limited engagements per month by an account, which has an emphasis on answering a question or producing a report from internet searches. It doesn’t have a strong aspect of following any instructions in how it performs its operations or what it will produce as a deliverable, which usually turns out to be highly-based on reporting on results of internet pages as knowledge.

Thanks a lot!

I’m building a GPT-based tribunal system to accept and analyze anonymous reports securely. What’s the best way to chain assistants and ensure token usage is optimized while preserving privacy in multi-user sessions?”
