I wanted to suggest adding more culturally diverse voice options to ChatGPT, especially voices inspired by Mexican-American / Chicano communities from the Southwest.

A voice actor like Danny Trejo would honestly be an amazing fit. His voice carries warmth, toughness, humor, wisdom, and a very recognizable Southwestern Latino identity that a lot of people connect with. It would make conversations feel more personal and authentic for many users.

There’s a huge Latino and Mexican-American user base in the United States, especially in states like Arizona, California, Texas, and New Mexico. Adding voices that reflect those communities could help more people feel represented and connected to the product.

It’d also open the door for richer storytelling, bilingual conversations, and more natural cultural expression instead of every voice sounding overly polished or generic.

I genuinely think a Southwest Latino-inspired voice option would be extremely popular with users.

Custom/celebrity voice cloning

  • ChatGPT does not generally let you clone arbitrary people’s voices or use celebrity voices on demand.
  • Voice options are limited to approved built-in voices.

For best results, tell ChatGPT the dialect you want, for example:

“Reply in Egyptian Arabic.” “Use British English spelling.” “Translate this into Mexican Spanish.” “Write this in a casual Nigerian English style.”

It may not perfectly handle every dialect, especially less-documented or highly regional ones, but it can often adapt if you provide examples.

That said, you can guide ChatGPT toward certain speaking styles, dialects, or cultural tones through prompting. For example, you can ask it to:

  • “Use a Mexican-American / Southwest Latino tone”
  • “Reply in casual Chicano English”
  • “Use Mexican Spanish slang naturally”
  • “Sound warm, relaxed, and conversational”

It may not perfectly capture every regional nuance, but giving examples and specific direction can help a lot.

I still think having more culturally diverse built-in voices in the future would be awesome and would help more people feel represented and connected to the experience.
