I am writing this to warn the community and alert OpenAI engineers to a severe breakdown in data deletion controls.
The ChatGPT “Memory” feature is completely broken on my account. I manually deleted a highly detailed personal dossier from my personalization settings (including my family details, locations, creative work, and physical appearance). I also explicitly commanded the AI in-chat to erase everything.
Despite this, the cloud servers are automatically resurrecting and injecting the deleted data into the background of every brand new chat session. When prompted to audit its memory, the AI spits out the entire deleted list all over again.
Custom Instructions cannot block it because the server-side cache bypasses user settings entirely. If you use the Memory feature, check your data. “Delete” does not actually mean delete right now on OpenAI’s backend.
Support Ticket filed, but it was brushed off by an automated bot. Engineers need to look at server-side synchronization immediately.
