Feature Request: Official WhatsApp Integration for ChatGPT
I would love to see an official WhatsApp integration for ChatGPT.
It would be really useful if ChatGPT could work directly with WhatsApp, for example to:
-
Summarize long conversations
-
Help write or improve messages
-
Suggest replies
-
Translate messages
-
Answer questions about information in a chat
-
Let users interact with ChatGPT directly from WhatsApp
Privacy and user control would obviously be very important. The integration should only access chats or messages that the user explicitly allows it to access.
I believe an official WhatsApp integration would make ChatGPT significantly more useful in everyday communication. I strongly encourage OpenAI to consider developing this feature and exploring an official WhatsApp integration in a future ChatGPT update. I would definitely use it, and I believe many other users would benefit from it as well.
Thank you for considering this feature request. I hope OpenAI will seriously consider bringing ChatGPT to WhatsApp!
I strongly support this request. One specific use case I’d like to add is an official WhatsApp connector for ChatGPT, similar to the Gmail connector.
I’m not primarily looking for a way to talk to ChatGPT through WhatsApp. I’d like to be able to connect my own WhatsApp account to ChatGPT, with explicit permission, and then ask ChatGPT questions about my existing conversations.
For example:
- “Find the message where my child’s teacher told me the pickup time.”
- “What did this person tell me last month about the payment?”
- “Summarize the decisions made in this group over the last two weeks.”
- “Find our most recent conversation about this topic.”
Ideally, ChatGPT would be able to search, read, summarize and reference individual WhatsApp messages, with a link or citation back to the original message where technically possible.
Privacy controls would be essential. Users should be able to choose which individual chats/groups ChatGPT can access, exclude sensitive conversations, use read-only access, limit access by date range, and revoke the connection at any time.
In other words, I’d love WhatsApp to become a first-class connected source in ChatGPT in the same general way email and other connected apps can be used as context.
If direct WhatsApp synchronization isn’t technically possible, an official importer for exported WhatsApp chat archives would also be a useful intermediate solution.
This would be extremely useful for personal ChatGPT accounts because so much everyday information - family, school, work, appointments and decisions - now lives in WhatsApp rather than email.
