what is the fix for this? My chats are not under work mode.
Same here, it started about 21st September and seems to be getting worse. The worse part is that it is random and after many refreashes some old chats come back and some new ones disappear. it seems like the webpage/app just loose connection untill the chat appears again. Might be a server problem, this really slows me down in work. I tried all my devices using both app and web versions (two different iphones, macbook air, macbook pro, windows pc) and i tried using different wifi points, celluar data. Intersting part is that same chats become “Could not load this ChatGPT conversation” on all devices simultainesly and reappear again on multiple devices. Hence my conslusion, that it is a server issue. Please fix it soon.
The issue with ChatGPT conversations failing to load is still reproducible when several chats are used in parallel.
If I keep around 3-5 conversations open and actively work in them, especially with long-running tasks, some requests eventually start returning HTTP 429 “Too Many Requests”.
Long generations also occasionally fail with a connection or streaming error. Reloading one or more affected tabs makes the situation noticeably worse: 429 responses become more frequent, and other conversations may stop loading as well.
This rarely happens when working mainly in a single chat.
Based on the observed behavior, this may be related to a shared rate limit for requests coming from multiple active conversations. Reloading a tab after a failed generation may also create an additional burst of reconnect, state restoration, and conversation history requests.
It would be worth checking the rate limiting, retry/reconnect logic, and state restoration behavior when multiple ChatGPT tabs are active under the same account.
Yes I agree, I usually keep 3-5 ChatGpt tabs active as I am working on multiple projects at the same time and MOST OF THE TIME I get this

Yeah, I’ve been having the same problem for the past few days. I think it’s one of those issues that the devs need to fix asap.
The same issue is happening on all the devices I use, and it still hasn’t been fixed yet.
Same, I still experience it, I am a pro user.
Can someone from here fix it? You folks aren’t even replying on us or atleast acknowledging us. @OpenAI_Support
I’m still having the same issues. I am happy to send you the slug for the chat but don’t feel like posting it here. Let me know how to send it to you. But its basically for like every chat once it seems like i have 2 or more tabs open.
I can close some, and then try to reopen it and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
The 429 “Too Many Requests” error keeps occurring while using ChatGPT chats. It’s disappointing that OpenAI support continues to ignore this issue.
My subscription ends after this week, hope it gets fixed by then
Same issue for about 2 weeks now.
Happens on all devices, all browsers.
“Could not load this ChatGPT conversation” or
“Too many requests”,
depending on the device.
It’s very, very frustrating. I’m a Pro user, paying 90 pounds a month.
