"Copy" Chat Button feature - Simple but huge upgrade

Option in the 3-dot menu right next to the chat (or long-press on mobile) to “copy”. Creates a simple duplicate, right above the chat being copied. And/or “copy to project” (I am not referring to the existing move to project button. That isn’t what I am after). I am talking about duplication of a desired chat.

Sometimes there is a chat that has valuable context built over a lengthy conversation that is giving me super good output that I wish to replicate in future conversations. Anyone else do that? Where they get a huge help from it, and it almost feels like the person/AI you are talking to will gradually fade as new context is introduced and old context is overwritten? Wouldn’t it be nice if you see an out of the ordinary chat and say This one is good… And simply copy it and store it for later? And title it, and then you could come back when you needed, and copy it, and continue chatting and branch out into other directions. That could offer quite a lot of good expirimentation, split-testing, etc.

We all know how inconsistent GPT can be. This would be a small but game changing step increasing overall consistency. Think of it as a way to have a bit more persistent memory, without having your AI devolve into chaos like if it had one giant RAG-style memory drawing from your past chats. People who advocate for that I don’t think understand how unpredictably that would affect your output lol. It would definitely have to be on a call-by basis where you explicitly had to ask it to do that, or have a button to toggle it on and off.

I know ChatGPT is highly customizable and there are many options to really hone in on the kind of insights or solutions you were getting from one conversation to the next. But none are quite as good as this - If I am in a conversation and the output has progressed to a point that just feels like exactly what I need for any given project, I would like to be able to copy that and save it to a project. Right now, I can move it. I can copy and paste sections from the convo, into a new chat. But every option I am listing that is available to try and capture the magic that was in any given conversation - is subpar to simply being able to copy the convo at any time, and use it more or less as a template to build off of in the future. Every conversation is useful to varying degrees, but there are some like 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 conversations that had built just the right context to be incredibly helpful in a given area. And trying to copy summaries from that conversation to a new chat simply does not recapture the magic. And it’s because there are key pieces of context that come up with just the right relevancy to steer the predictive output down a certain path that is sometimes just hard to replicate.

So one tiny simple option to “copy” a chat, I think would be very useful and offer a level of flexibility that could be a game changer for someone like me who engages in long-form discussions and purposefully types big long messages to give a lot of context, because my uses benefit a lot from that. It would certainly save me a lot of time building context in new chats. In a copied chat, the AI is already primed and ready to go to exactly the context and output I am looking for in a way that project instructions, Memory feature, and other instructions simply cannot replicate.

Thank you!
