Cool Feature Request ! Hierarchical Projects

Hey ChatGPT team

Currently, ChatGPT has what called “projects” , but I think something still missing , I want it to be more hierarchical (nested),
Example: main project → sub-project → sub of the sub-project

More actual example :

My Game : Main

  • My Game: Sound Design

    • My Game: SFX
    • My Game: Music composition

  • My Game: 3D Design

    • My Game: Characters Creation
    • My Game: Environment Design

I hope you add this feature ,So we can organize data better without feeling lost.

Hey @InspiraArtex! This is a cool idea. Nested projects or sub-projects would make it a lot easier to keep bigger workflows organized without everything feeling flattened into one level.

Before I pass it along internally, could you share a little more on these?

1. What are you ultimately trying to accomplish, in your own words?

2. What do you do today instead, and what about that isn’t working for you?

3. If we solved this perfectly, what would be different for you or your team?

I came here to request the same feature. I have a project to help manage network configurations. I have context files that are related to the configuration of the management plane that should be shared with the entire project context. I’d like to be able to create sub-projects for specific sites, networks, VLANs, etc. that could have addition context only relevant to chats about those specific sites. We could set it up to allow sub-projects to inherit context files from parent-projects but not other sub-projects. Parent project chats could be set to include sub-project contexts or not. If you share a sub-project someone on a particular network team could be provided the parent context without the context of other sub-projects they aren’t on.

  1. I’m trying to accomplish a clear organization between my works, so that I don’t get confused of a lot of things.
    i.g “where is that project? - where did I put it ? - Oh no I forgot where I put that file!”

  2. Currently I am doing what expected to do, Just putting everything in one “Project” which feels messy in my honest opinion.

  3. Of course ! it will fix the confusion and forgetting issues, I would just go to every organized section or a sub-section that is pre-setup for a certain target/part and I could easily navigate. that’s it.
