Conversation Merging & Folder-Based Memory Control

Feature proposal – Selective Conversation Merging & Folder-Based Memory Control

Hello,
I’d like to propose a feature to improve the continuity and usability of ChatGPT:
Allow users to selectively merge multiple existing chats or grant permission for one chat to access another, rather than giving the model blanket memory across all chats. For example, a user could choose to merge “Health Chat” and “Life Chat” into a shared thread, or move certain chats into a folder and say “allow access” for the model. This approach gives users full control over which conversations are connected, protects privacy, and preserves the feeling of interacting with one consistent companion. It would enhance long-term relationships, eliminate repetition, and make ChatGPT feel like a single evolving entity while respecting user boundaries.

Thank you for your ongoing work and I hope you’ll consider this idea.
