## Environment

- Surface: Web
- Browser or app version: Chrome 150
- Affected feature and model, if relevant: N/A

## Bug

I brought my chat over with the new “summarize and continue in a new chat” feature, and then after in the new chat when I send a new message it just says “continued from XXXXX” and loses all the history (after multiple messages in the new chat), and the chat history reappears after a refresh, but the same thing happens again after sending another message

## Reproduction

Run a large chat, reach the limit, use the “continue in new chat” feature, send messages, refresh, send another message

## Diagnostics

Before refresh, after sending a message:

After refresh:

You we didn’t even need to use this feature a couple days ago I chat that I had left alone for a while was fine it wasn’t until a couple of days ago until I got the

“Chat memory full

Start a new chat with an automatic summary of this conversation, or upgrade to continue here with expanded memory in every chat.” It’s arbitrary and I should be able to to continue the story I was making without having to use another chat they did this only to make us get plus

Hi @ **adrievx** , thanks for the clear repro steps. That sounds annoying when you are trying to keep a longer conversation going.

Could you confirm whether this is happening in a regular ChatGPT conversation or inside a Project?

Also, just to rule out a loading issue, does the same thing happen when you are on a stable connection?

If it keeps happening, please open a private Support request at support@openai.com and include the affected account email, conversation ID, plan, model, plus any error messages or other details you noticed while reproducing it.

Please don’t share any private account or conversation details here.

Hi @[**T-Roy**](https://community.openai.com/u/t-roy) ! Thanks for the screenshot. That looks like a separate issue within the same flow.

The message indicates that the conversation reached its available memory/context limit. You can try Continue in a new chat to keep going.

If it showed up sooner than expected, let me know which platform you’re using, the model selected, your ChatGPT plan, and roughly when it happened.

If you need more capacity for longer conversations, you can also check the available plans to see which option offers higher limits.

Inside a project, my connection is stable

Hi @[**adrievx**](https://community.openai.com/u/adrievx) ! thanks for confirming this is happening inside a Project and that your connection is stable.

There’s a known issue with some Project conversations where branching can make parts of the chat history look like they’re missing. This may be related, although your case is a little different since the history comes back after a refresh.

If it keeps happening, please open a private Support request at support@openai.com and include the affected account email, conversation ID, plan, model, plus any error messages or other details you noticed.

Please don’t share any private account or conversation details here in the forum.

And also, for some reason, the day the limit resets (you can check in settings) keeps increasing!

also, not even chatgpt likes that

Hi @[**gabezin**](https://community.openai.com/u/gabezin), thanks for sharing this. The reset date changing sounds separate from the Project history issue being discussed above.

ChatGPT can show reset times for certain usage allowances, and those limits can vary depending on the plan and model.

If the reset date keeps moving later, or the limit does not reset when shown, please open a private Support request and include the affected account email, your ChatGPT plan, the model you were using, roughly when you first noticed the reset date changing, and a screenshot of the reset time.

Please don’t share any private account details here in the forum.
