In case you are still wondering what to do on Sunday, building projects with Codex is an option. The next rate limit reset has already been announced for Monday.
I really appreciate the intention behind these resets, but I think the current system is actually frustrating some professional users instead of helping them.
The problem is not whether you reset our quota. The problem is when we can use that additional capacity.
I’m a developer. My Codex workload is not the same every day. Today I might have nothing important that requires heavy Codex usage, while three days from now I might have a critical project where I genuinely need that capacity.
If my weekly quota reset yesterday and I still have 80% available, resetting me to 100% today doesn’t really give me another quota. It effectively gives me only 20%.
What am I supposed to do? Run Codex all day today on projects I don’t need just because I know another reset is coming? That makes no sense.
The previous banked reset system was much better.
Give me the reset, put it in my bank, and let me activate it when I actually need it. Then your gift really represents an additional 100% of useful capacity instead of potentially 10%, 20%, or 30%.
This is especially important for professional users who use Codex regularly but responsibly. We don’t want to burn tokens just because a reset is coming. We want to use our quota when our work actually requires it.
I’ve been paying around CHF 83/month because Codex is a professional tool for me, but this repeated automatic-reset behavior has frustrated me enough that I’ve cancelled my subscription and I’m considering moving my development workflow to Anthropic.
And that’s unfortunate, because I actually like Codex.
Please consider bringing back banked resets and making exceptional resets claimable rather than automatically overwriting remaining usage.
A reset is valuable when I can use it when I need it, not when someone else decides I need it.
It is also frustrating trying to plan usage based on what one guy on Twitter says, along with knowing “is he being truthful or is this a shitpost?”
I agree, but its better than nothing. Yes you would always like to use the extra 100% but you cant say the extra 30% is bad!
Why would you plan on unexpected token resets … just work … do not stop to save tokens for tomorrow. If you can do the task today do it.
My main concern is that the usage limits are getting worse! Complex tasks are draining tokens!

My limit reset last week – it was used up on Tuesday. I couldn’t use it Wednesday and Thursday because it was at 0%. On Friday, I decided to go elsewhere because I’d had enough. I turned off my computer over the weekend due to a lack of processing power in Codex.
And now you’re saying there was a reset on Sunday and Monday too?!
I don’t know who’s running this, but you definitely don’t deserve any bonuses. 
Monday came and almost passed, still no reset yet. Are you still up for it or did plans change?

The little surprise was another reset.
Actually it’s a blessing. Working on real big projects means that you’re running out of tokens constantly, I’ve been under hard token economy, limiting the context and trying to make the most of the work locally, and still, weekly limit is over in 2.5 days. I even had to pause my main project to save 10-15% on the side to manage the already developed software in beta stage, so any kind of reset feels like blessing from God.
