Bug
What happened: The quota-reset informational text inside the sidebar status card (below the usage progress bar) is silently truncated when the sidebar width is reduced. At full width it reads “Los modelos avanzados se restablecen 15 sept, 8:35”; at a reduced sidebar width it renders as “Los modelos avanzados se restablecen 15” — the date and time are clipped with no ellipsis (…), no tooltip, and no text wrapping to indicate that content is missing. The “Reset usage” button label is similarly affected, rendering as “Reset us…” at reduced width.
What I expected: The text should either truncate with a visible ellipsis and expose the full string via a hover tooltip, wrap onto a second line, or use an abbreviated date/time format — but not silently drop information with no visual indication that it has been cut off.
Reproduction
Open Codex Desktop with any chat/project loaded.
Look at the status card in the bottom-left sidebar (e.g., “Luna Reserve · Un 27 % restante”).
Note the full subtext under the progress bar: “Los modelos avanzados se restablecen [date], [time]”.
Reduce the sidebar width (drag the resize handle between the sidebar and the main panel).
Observe the subtext getting hard-clipped as the sidebar narrows — no ellipsis, no wrap, information is lost.
Diagnostics
Exact error, relevant logs, or screenshot: No error is thrown; this is a silent visual/UX truncation, not a crash or console error. Two screenshots attached, same session at two sidebar widths:
Full width (~315px): full text visible — “Los modelos avanzados se restablecen 15 sept, 8:35”
Reduced width (~235px): truncated text — “Los modelos avanzados se restablecen 15” (date and time silently dropped, no ellipsis). The “Reset usage” button label is also affected, rendering as “Reset us…”.
DevTools could not be used to inspect computed styles, as they are disabled in the production build (MSIX/AppContainer sandbox restriction).
When it happened (with timezone) and how often: 11 sept 2026, ~11:30 CEST (UTC+2) — Europe/Madrid timezone it`s easy to reproduce.
Thanks for following the posting requirements for the Codex Bugs subcategory:
You posted this in the appropriate place on the forum for discussing and documenting a Codex bug. The forum, however, is not the official issue tracker. If the problem needs to be formally reported and tracked by the Codex maintainers, the official place is the OpenAI Codex GitHub issue tracker.
I asked ChatGPT to search for the closest related issue, and it identified:
If that issue describes the same problem you are experiencing, consider adding a reaction to the GitHub issue itself, rather than only reacting to this forum topic. GitHub reactions can help the maintainers gauge how many users are affected.
If it does not match your problem closely enough, search the existing Codex issues for a better match. If you cannot find one, consider opening a new issue and include as much relevant information as possible, such as your Codex version, operating system, environment, reproduction steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, and any relevant logs or error messages.
