Codex allowance for ChatGPT Business seats feels much less durable than Plus after yesterday’s reset

Hi OpenAI team,

I’d like to share feedback about the Codex allowance included with a standard ChatGPT Business seat.

From the product description, ChatGPT Business appears to provide a ChatGPT experience similar to Plus, with additional workspace, admin, and collaboration features. However, when using Codex through the ChatGPT seat, the included Codex allowance feels much less durable than Plus in actual daily use.

This became especially noticeable after yesterday’s reset. Since the Codex usage limit reset yesterday, my Business ChatGPT seat has been reaching the Codex cap much faster than expected. The issue is not about general ChatGPT messaging, but specifically about the Codex allowance tied to the ChatGPT seat.

For users who rely on Codex heavily for coding work throughout the day, the current allowance feels too restrictive for a business/workspace-oriented plan. In practice, it feels less reliable than Plus, even though Business is positioned as a professional plan.

My concern is that users may reasonably expect a Business ChatGPT seat to provide at least a comparable Codex experience to Plus, plus workspace features. But after the recent reset, the Codex endurance feels significantly worse.

It would be helpful if OpenAI could:

  1. Make the Codex allowance for standard ChatGPT Business seats clearer in the plan comparison;
  2. Explain how it compares with Plus;or
  3. Increase the included Codex allowance for Business ChatGPT seats

Overall, I like Codex and want to keep using it for work, but the current Codex allowance on Business ChatGPT seats feels difficult to rely on compared with Plus.

Have you looked into API usage? It’s more expensive, but more reliable, imho.

Hey @originis, totally get why that’s frustrating.

What I can do right now is surface this as a feature request: clearer plan transparency, better visibility into limits, and an easier way to understand how it differs from Plus.

In the meantime, I’ll let @PaulBellow answer the plan-specific part.

I don’t know about chatgpt.com but in codex business seat only have 30% or 40% allowance if plus is 100%

My experience is the same – A single 5.6 Luna / Medium request to summarize project drained 8% of my 5 hour limit. I can barely do 30 minutes of work in my 5 hour window, working with the cheaper of the new models. I am on a business account. Its good and fast, but can’t get much work done.
