Is the memory feature of ChatGPT enabled?
The memory feature of ChatGPT is designed to extract important points from conversations with users and use them in later conversations.
If you do not need the memory feature, you can disable it by clicking the icon in the lower left corner of the ChatGPT WebUI, selecting ‘Settings’, then ‘Personalization’, and turning off the memory toggle.
Additionally, you can check the contents of the memory by pressing the ‘Manage’ button, and you can delete items individually.
Yes, it is on and i understand the logic and the use of the feature. My question is related to why to use deleted chats?
It’s better to think that the memory recorded in deleted chats is being used, rather than the deleted chats themselves.
Even if you delete a chat, the content of the memory recorded there is not deleted.
If you want to delete the content of the memory, you need to either explicitly tell ChatGPT to forget it or delete items individually.
It also might be a good idea to manually save the information somewhere else beforehand to ensure that ChatGPT does not accidentally delete unrelated memories.
I hope this helps
Yes, Thank you. It can work in this way too.
