Chatgpt work usage limit after 1 task

I just subscribed to Chatgpt work, I asked 1 task only, read my emails from past month and create a proposal tracker in excel. This hit the limit. My question, is this normal and how do I check my token usage.

Good question.

I was hoping that that the keyword “analytics” in the OpenAI help site would provide links to the correct topics, sadly no.

You can check your ChatGPT Work usage in at least two places.

ChatGPT Desktop app

  1. Open ChatGPT Desktop.
  2. Open your account menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Analytics.

OpenAI documents these options here:

Web analytics

You can also check the usage analytics page while signed in to the same ChatGPT account/workspace:

I would check both after a Work task unexpectedly consumes a large amount of your allowance.

Note: The details may not be exact, as the information does not always stay in sync with rapidly released code and product updates.

@amirfarazmand I experienced the exact same thing. I just signed up for the Plus plan, and I hit my usage limit literally within minutes (less than 10 minutes). I can’t believe it. I only used GPT-5.5 Medium. However, when I checked my usage by model in settings, it reported that I used GPT-5.6 Terra and Sol, and my 5-hour usage limit was exhausted while 16% of my weekly usage was exhausted. I don’t understand it at all.

I used to have a Pro 20X plan, which worked for months until they released GPT-5.6 Sol. I went from staying within my weekly usage limits to exhausting them in a couple of days. I can’t help but suspect their pause of the Pro 20X plan is due to this issue. I decided to try it again with a Plus plan, and it seems like nothing has changed.

I suspect OpenAI has a major issue they’re either unaware of or handling in the worst way possible from a communications and customer service perspective. (Its AI customer service is completely worthless.)

I can’t wait for OpenAI to go public because investors will not stand for these issues. Bearish investors will make sure this information gets out. Then, there will finally be some public accountability.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and good luck. In the meantime, FWIW, I’ve really enjoyed using Cl@%de and have had significantly better usage limits with them, even with their $20/month plan, which usually gets me through the week. I was also surprised to discover that it’s much better at coding than OpenAI.
