Screenshot:
I think that I enabled 2FA on 14th March, then on the 21st, ~7 days later, on my desktop (Windows/Firefox), the ChatGPT website wouldn’t populate (see above), it still worked fine on my iPad with Safari.
I deleted the browser data for openai.com
in Firefox, reset/changed the password (to invalidate the session, since there was no way to sign out of the bugged session), and signed back in, then it worked again.
Today (27th), so again ~6-7 days later, the website once again wouldn’t populate. This time I went to my iPad, disabled 2FA, and changed the password again (I didn’t clear browser data on my desktop). Interestingly after a refresh, it suddenly populated again on my desktop. It also (so far) hasn’t signed me back out (!?), despite the password having been changed.
When it’s in this state where it won’t populate, it will first be pretty much entirely empty, then very slowly elements get added (as if certain timeouts need to be reached), but it eventually remains as shown in the screenshot. The dev console shows a ton of 403 responses.
I left 2FA disabled for now, if I get the error again, I’ll update this thread with more detailed logs.
Edit: Just as I posted this, the session on my desktop got invalidated. Side note: For some reason I need to still clear the browser data, since it redirects me into an Oops, an error occurred!
page after shortly showing the normal ChatGPT Get Started screen.
Edit 2: I just remembered something interesting: When 2FA is enabled, the sign in isn’t seamlessly transferred to these community forums, instead, a 2FA code needs to be entered (but not email/password). I wonder if the 2FA has a separate token that wasn’t properly renewed for me and this caused this weird semi-logout?
