I have a feature idea for ChatGPT Voice that I think would make voice calls feel much more natural and fun.
It would be really cool if Voice Mode had an optional animated AI avatar on screen instead of only the current voice interface. Users could customize what the AI looks like, such as a human, robot, animal, fantasy creature, furry character, or even something funny like a little mouse.
The avatar could react while talking, move its mouth with the voice, blink, show simple expressions, and generally make the conversation feel more alive. Users who prefer the normal Voice Mode interface could still turn avatars off.
I also think users should be able to optionally show their own camera or image during the call. That way, ChatGPT could see what the user chooses to share while the user can also see the AI avatar. It could feel more like a video call rather than just talking to a voice.
Customization could include:
- Avatar appearance/species
- Clothes and colors
- Different animation/personality styles
- Voice selection
- Backgrounds or environments
- Camera/image sharing from the user
- An option to use the normal Voice interface instead
I think this could make Voice Mode feel much more interactive while still making it clear that the avatar is an AI character and not a real person.
Basically: ChatGPT Voice + customizable animated avatars + optional user video/image sharing.
