I am writing to submit product feedback regarding user onboarding and interaction control within ChatGPT.
Unlike traditional platforms—which historically provided step-by-step documentation, FAQs, or functional guides—ChatGPT relies on an empty prompt field. This setup expects users to instinctively know how to direct system behavior, parameter limits, and response styles without clear documentation.
Integrating a permanent, easy-to-find “Owner’s Manual” or setup guide directly inside the interface would eliminate unnecessary trial and error. A core user guide should cover:
Behavioral Controls: Clear syntax for enforcing tone, strict brevity, facts-only output, and turning off conversational follow-up questions.
Output Formatting: Direct instructions for forcing specific output structures (tables, bulleted lists, step-by-step procedures).
Capability & Guardrail Boundaries: Explicit guidelines on what the system can and cannot do.
Providing standard operational documentation will give users better control and significantly improve the overall experience.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
