Hello Team,
I would like to share a product improvement idea regarding the chat search feature in ChatGPT.
Currently, the search functionality works primarily based on exact keyword matching. This makes it difficult to find past conversations unless the user remembers the exact wording used earlier.
However, most users think in terms of intent rather than specific keywords.
For example: If a user searches for “Pinterest strategy,” relevant past chats like “pin growth plan” or “affiliate pin ideas” may not appear, even though they are contextually related.
Suggested Improvement: Introduce AI-powered semantic search within chat history that:
-
Understands user intent, not just keywords
-
Retrieves contextually similar conversations
-
Uses embeddings or NLP to match meaning
Expected Impact:
-
Better user experience
-
Easier retrieval of past knowledge
-
Makes ChatGPT a more powerful personal knowledge base
This enhancement could significantly improve usability, especially for users who rely on ChatGPT for ongoing projects and long-term workflows.
Thank you for your time and for building such an impactful product.
Best regards,
Abdul Vahith
