I checked and no. Mine is latest version, I don’t know what to do 
but I guess since it’s started to be fixed to other people then mine will be too
Are you talking about the bug where the editing functionality was entirely unavailable, or the bug where editing would append a new message instead of editing the existing message in place?
Hello, I’m a writer too which means this update bug is pretty destructive. I’m so dumb; my chats are finishing faster and the responses don’t have the variation I expect and I only thought to come and check this thread on August after I noticed the real blasphemy on the web UI.
Also why do we discuss this here when this site is telling us we can’t discuss chatGpt issues here? I didn’t find much on the discord…
For me it’s also not fixed at all, it got even worse, and I’ll throw it out there again: Why should OpenAI fix this before the release of GPT-5? To shoot their own marketing down? From their developers’ perspective, it’s perfect. Now the old version is broken, i.e., bad, and the new one can be called and sold as “much better.”

Tbh, idc at this point. I’m using my iPad & iPhone ever since the issue and web in rare cases. The web version on android works okay for most things.
I checked and there’s no update. Not fixed for me. I will just try to delete it and download it again.

I’m sorry if bothering you but can you see the last update date that play store show for the app? I want to make sure it’s about the update 
I’ve noticed they just updated the ‘regenerate’ option of the web version, so you can now essentially comment directly on chatGPT’s response and give it extra instructions without removing the last message from context. Since this has to do with message editing and regeneration, my assumption is that this change could have caused bugs in other related aspects during development. It’s a reach but honestly what matters is they fix it soon.
I’ve just joined the Beta testing program through the Play Store on Android to see if there’re any relevant changes to this bug in the Beta version.
Latest public app update was on July 24th.
I am not from the U.S, although I didn’t give much info but I’m currently in the beta program of the app. Have you tried updating to the beta version? That may fix the issue.

then updating the app on google play fixed it
Is right: when i edit a message in ChatGPT on mobile, instead of updating the original message, it creates a duplicate—cluttering your chats with repeated messages. That’s not expected behavior.
