I am a paid user.
In my Customize ChatGPT settings, I clearly specified that if any memory is going to be added, it must be done only after asking for my confirmation.
Despite this, your system automatically created dozens of unwanted, shallow memories such as “Interested in buying an electric guitar,” “Likes classic rock,” “Enjoys using the whammy bar,” etc. — without ever asking me.
This directly violates my stated instruction.
As a result:
- My memory is now 96% full.
- I am forced to waste massive amounts of time manually deleting junk memories I never agreed to save.
- I lost trust in the system’s respect for user instructions.
This is unacceptable.
If you give users the ability to set preferences (such as “ask for confirmation before saving memory”), the system must actually obey it — not bypass it with auto-save algorithms.
I demand:
- That OpenAI fix this bug and respect the user’s customization settings immediately.
- That a “manual approval” mode for memories be added — where no memory is saved without the user manually approving it.
- That a “bulk delete or edit” feature be provided so users can manage memories without wasting hours of time.
You are wasting paying customers’ time and disrespecting our clearly expressed preferences.
Fix it.
Thank you.
