ChatGPT Legacy — Preserve Your Voice for the People You Love

I would love ChatGPT to offer an optional Legacy / Memoir feature where users can deliberately save selected memories, stories, photos, values, life lessons and personal messages for loved ones.

The key difference from normal ChatGPT memory would be that this content is curated by the user for other people, rather than simply used to personalise ChatGPT.

Users could choose specific conversations or memories and say:

“Add this to my Legacy.”

Over time, ChatGPT could help organise these into themes or chapters, creating something more like a personal memoir or life archive.

The user should have complete control over:

  • what is included
  • who can eventually access it
  • whether access is given during their lifetime or later
  • exporting it to a permanent format such as PDF or document

It should never automatically expose a user’s full chat history.

I think this could be a meaningful use of AI for people who would never sit down and formally write a memoir, but who naturally share memories and thoughts through conversation.

The idea is simple: help people preserve their voice, memories and values for the people they love.

Thanks for sharing this idea! Where Work is available, it can help turn selected stories and other source material into a document: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001278. We’ll pass along the dedicated Legacy space and sharing-controls request; no timeline to share.
